Mogwai are coming
Scottish 'post rock' band Mogwai will be releasing a live labum "Special moves" 23rd August and will be playing Cardiff University 18th February 2011.

SWN 2010 launched
This year's SWN Festival was launched yesterday by Huw Stevens and John Rostron at the Pierhead Building in Cardiff. This year's festival takes place 21st - 23rd October and looks set to be the biggest and best so far with a number of changes:
* Roving wrist bands (£45) will cover city centre venues, day wrist bands are also available. Other gigs in venues such as the Globe will be ticketed separately.
* Welsh language event 'Dan Oed' for 14-18 year olds taking place at the Millennium Music Hall.
*The festival has secured funding from various sources such as PRS Music fondation.
Acts announced this week include The Swans, Al Lewis, new Rough Trade signing Joe Worricker, Paul Heaton and the nascent genius Perfume Genius.
Newsoundwales will be hosting a night at the festival. More details to follow in due course.

Bright Light Bright Light Start to Shine
Bright Light Bright Light have announced a new single 'Love Part ll coming out on Virgin offshoot Popjustice HiFi 13th September. The band will also be supporting Ellie Goulding on her tour this Autumn. Bright Light Bright Light recently played at the newsoundwales showcase at Chapter Arts Centre and Rod Thomas (the band's main writer and performer)was our artist of the year in 2008.

Robert Plant announces Welsh gig
Robert Plant will be playing St David's Hall with his group Band of Joy 26th October. Plant has close associations with Wales and has played here on several occasions as a solo artist including dates at the old Top Rank in Cardiff and the Coal Exchange with his band Priory of Bryon. Tickets for the gig go on sale Friday 9th July.
